How to prepare for a cat photoshoot? Here are a few tips to help us make the most of your home's space and capture your cats in the best possible light.

It doesn’t have to be a deep spring clean, but for the best results, it’s important that the space is as tidy and visually unified as possible.
During the shoot, we will use various corners of your home, from the living room to the bedroom. Since I often shoot directly from the floor, it’s a good idea to pay attention to its cleanliness as well. Pleaseremove everything unnecessary from view. The cleaner and more open the interior is, the better your home and, most importantly, your cats will look in the photos.
CAT SCRATCHERS AND TOYS
I often use scratchers and cat trees as natural spots where the cat stands out beautifully. When they are cleaned of fur and undamaged, they look much better in photos. For action shots, it’s great to have all the toys that work on your fluffy friends ready in advance. The best ones are long wand toys or anything that makes a distinct sound.
Feeding
It’s a huge help when the cat is in the mood for treats. If they get a full bowl in the morning as usual, they might be a bit too satisfied and lose interest in cooperating. I recommend giving them a slightly smaller breakfast so they’ll be excited to snack on their favorite treats during the shoot.
You can prepare whatever you know they love - liquid treats in tubes, gels, or pastes are usually a big hit for photos.
WINDOWS AND LIGHT
Daylight is crucial for cat photography, so I often work near windows. If windows or sills are very dusty or dirty, it will show in the photos. I recommend giving them a quick clean and keeping curtains or blinds open as wide as possible. Of course, if the natural light isn't enough, I’ll use my own studio lighting!
SOUNDS AND NOISE
Cats have very sensitive hearing and are extremely perceptive of their surroundings. If there is talking, music, or a TV running in another room, the cat will notice, and you can often tell by the way they constantly tilt their ears or stay on guard, which doesn’t look great in a photo. Ideally, there should be as much peace and quiet as possible during the session, no background music, kitchen noise, or disturbances from neighboring rooms.
